Manchester Senior Center
Membership Eligibility
Manchester residents age 60 and over may participate in all Senior Center trips,programs and activities, and lunches. Manchester residents age 55 to 59 may participate in all lunches, trips, evening and weekend programs and activities, and evening meals.
In order to participate in activities, an annual activity card must be purchased at the Senior Center or Town Hall Customer Service for $5.00. Proof of residency is required when a card is purchased. Driver’s License, any type of bill, Car Registration, etc. showing name and Manchester address are acceptable forms of identification. The annual membership year is September 1st through August 31st.
Owning property in Manchester does not mean that you are eligible to join the Senior Center. You must RESIDE in Manchester to qualify for an activity card except as stated below. Manchester residents who are current Senior Center members may request information on ‘grandfathering’ of membership if they decide to move out of Manchester. Those who are ‘grandfathered’ must pay an annual membership fee of $12.00.
Out of town retired Town of Manchester Employees age 60 and over may purchase activity cards for $12.00, and may participate in all trips, programs, activities, and lunches. Out of town retired Town of Manchester Employees age 55 to 59 may purchase activity cards for $12.00 and participate in all lunches, trips, evening and weekend programs and activities, and evening meals.
Other non-residents, age 60 and over may purchase a yearly activity card for $12.00 only if they join the Senior Center Orchestra, or participate in the Red Hat Society. Out-of-town residents who attend the Red Hat Society activities are only eligible to attend those activities, and participate in lunch on the day of the Red Hat Society activity. Out-of-town residents who join the Orchestra are only eligible to have lunch on Orchestra days. These non-residents are not eligible for RSVP lunches or to participate in any other activities or programs, except those open to the public.
An out of town duplicate bridge player may participate only if he/she is sponsored by and plays with a resident member of the Manchester Senior Center. If the out of town resident is an occasional player, then the bridge fees will be double the amount the regular bridge player pays. If the out of town resident is substituting for several games, he/she must pay the $12 activity fee and may pay the normal bridge fee ($1.50). The membership fee does not give the out of town resident any privileges at the Senior Center other than duplicate bridge and lunch when attending duplicate bridge. These non-residents are not eligible for RSVP lunches or to participate in any other activities or programs, except those open to the public.
Senior Center membership is required for participation in all programs, activities and classes with the exception of:
- Social work services including individual consultations and support groups
- Health services including blood pressure, foot care, nursing appointments, fall risk evaluations, and support groups
- Public information programs such as health and mental health, Medicare, financial, police and other safety, election forums
- Public events such as openings and dedications
- One Newcomers’ Meeting (including free lunch)
- Attending plant sale, craft fairs
- Use of senior center bus for grocery or non-grocery shopping
- AT HOME Program (Activities Travel to the Homes of Manchester Elders)
- AARP Driver’s Ed
